Religious Education ProgramThrough faith formation, Our Lady of Mercy's primary aim is to foster each parishioners' relationship with Christ while developing a sense of belonging to the local parish community and the universal Church. Faith formation deepens our understanding of the core beliefs of the Catholic faith to encourage life-long learning and practicing of the Faith. The religious education program at Mercy seeks to serve the needs of any who desire to deepen their life of faith.
At Our Lady of Mercy Children's Faith Formation is divided into 2 sections.
(1) Grades K-6 participate in a spiral curriculum that builds upon previous content covered while introducing Church teachings as the child grows and matures. These classes meet two Sundays per month from September through May, 10-10:45am at Our Lady of Mercy School and RE@Home is work that students do at home with the help of their parents to meet the ADW minimum requirement of 30 hours per school year.
(2) Grades 7-8 focus on preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students are challenged to begin finding ways to integrate their Catholic Faith with their daily life. These classes meet two Sundays per month from September through May, 10-10:55am and 10 Discipleship Days that meet on Sundays from 3pm-4:30pm whenever there is no class. Both RE Classes and Discipleship are required preparation for Confirmation. -
First Communion and Confirmation
Do you have a student preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Communion or Confirmation?
Registration is required for Catholic and non-Catholic school students. There is a fee to cover Sacramental Preparation at Our Lady of Mercy Church. For First Communion, the surcharge fee is $100. For Confirmation, the surcharge fee is $150. Please note that the Sacramental Preparation surcharge is a separate fee from Religious Education classes which is $160.
